Catholic Communicators in Uganda will this month converge from May 16-22, 2017 in the Diocese of Lugazi for their Annual Communication Week in which will feature a range of activities which included an Annual General Meeting (AGM), workshop on‘Financial Planning and Management for non-Finance Managers’, and the celebration ofthe 51stWorld Communications Day (WCD) at National level, which is the climax of the event.
WCD is usually celebrated by the Catholic Church annually on the Sunday before Pentecost, which falls on May 21 this year. However, the local Church can adjust the date according to its needs. This year’s theme as released by Pope Francis is‘Fear not, for I am with you.’ (Isaiah 43:5): Communicating Hope and Trust in Our Time’.
Some of the participants that are expected to take part include the Bishop Chairman of Social Communications Commission, Rt. Rev Joseph Franzelli, who is also the Bishop of Lira Diocese, heads of various social communications departments and commissions at both national and diocesan level as well as Catholic journalists in the country.
The Bishop of Lugazi Diocese, Rt. Rev Christopher Kakooza will preside over the Thanksgiving Mass during the WCD celebration.
