“I am happy to hear that Kenya is preparing for the elections, it is not the first time that Kenyans are doing elections. We see improvements every time elections are being done and the great improvement I see now is the fact that all Kenyans are concerned about the election and that shows that they are responsible as citizens so this is a right of citizens to go to elections.”
Cardinal Berhaneyesus noted that the greatest preparation he has seen not just in Kenya but elsewhere where elections have taken place is the fact that people are praying. He explained that it is of utmost importance to give God a priority when the country is going for a major decision making that eventually impacts on the lives of the citizens.
“As Catholic Church we always say to our leaders that leadership is service, leadership is not power so the people who are going to choose the future leaders of Kenya, do so because they believe that they will serve them, they will stand for the good of the country; for the peace of the country and for development of the country.”
Cardinal Berhaneyesus said that Kenya is very important in Eastern Africa, therefore it is not only the people of Kenya who are praying for successful and peaceful elections, a host of nations especially AMECEA Countries are united with the Kenyan people in prayers.
He concluded by saying that all people of Kenya should focus on voting for their future leaders who would give great priority to the common good of the Kenyan people and assured them of AMECEA Countries’ prayers.
