KENYA: AMECEA Chairman commends the service of the Church in the Region

The Chairman of AMECEA H.E. Berhaneyesus D. Cardinal Souraphiel, Metropolitan Archbishop of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia has commended the work of the Catholic Church within the AMECEA Region especially those rendering services to all people of God regardless of faith, religion and ideologies.

Cardinal Berhaneyesus said this in his opening speech during the AMECEA Executive Board Meeting held at AMECEA Secretariat in Nairobi Kenya on Thursday, 18thMay, 2017.

He also commended the work of AMECEA Secretariat Staff especially the services they offer to the conferences.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of AMECEA, Most Rev. Thomas Msusa underscored teamwork among AMECEA Members as he explained that it is the only way through which success can be achieved.

In his homily during the Eucharistic Celebrations at AMECEA Secretariat, Archbishop Msusa of Blantyre Malawi appreciated the spirit of AMECEA which he described as a united family urged members to maintain a spirit of listening Church.

“I would like to appreciate the spirit of AMECEA, the Spirit of Listening, the spirit of coming together, that is what we are doing now. Teamwork is very important because through teamwork, through coming together nine countries coming together after a certain period of time is very important because it shows that AMECEA is a listening family,” Archbishop Msusa who is the Archbishop of Blantyre said this in his homily during the Eucharistic Celebrations at AMECEA Secretariat.

“As we begin our meeting as executive board, it is important to note that we have come together as a family of God sharing issues, sharing challenges from different countries so let us thank God because of this gift of being a united family,” He added.

“As we discuss issues and challenges coming from different countries, let us always remember that the first and the most important person is Jesus Christ who is the centre of everything,” he urged.

AMECEA Executive Board Meeting is usually held twice in a year and is attended by Bishop Representatives from AMECEA Countries as well as the Bishop Chairman of Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Council.
