“We are aware of how ceaselessly and untiringly you have laboured tospread theGospeland toupholdourCatholicfaith, beginning from the DioceseofOuahigouia in 1996, and then your appointment as Archbishop of Ouagadougou in 2009;and now beyond your country Burkina Faso as Cardinal since 2014 and President of ourcontinentalbodySECAMsince2019,” AMECEA Chairman Bishop Charles Sampa Kasonde said in his message dated Tuesday, November 16.
Addressing the Jubilarian Cardinal Phillipe Nakellentuba Ouédraogo, Bishop Kasonde of Solwezi Diocese, Zambia, reminded his Eminence that 25 years of thanksgiving and gratitude to God is “a moment of wonder considering the many challenging circumstances God has taken you through.”
“Therefore, this jubilee will always remain special to you for being the first of itskindevenduringtheotherjubileeyearstocome,” Bishop Kasonde told Cardinal Ouédraogo of Ouagadougou Archdiocese, Burkina Faso adding that, “We have all thereasons tothank God for his goodness as we pray that thisoccasion may be another occasion for you to find more strength and continue to lead uswiththesameloveofGod.”
The chairman of AMECEA assured the Cardinal collaboration and continued prayers from the bishops in the eight Conferences of the Association which is one the regions that form the continental body of SECAM, as he wishes the president “God's abundant blessings and more years of fulfillinggraciousserviceinEpiscopacy.”
Cardinal Ouédraogo’s celebration which began Thursday, November 25, with Eucharistic adoration will culminate on Sunday, November 28, with Holy Mass celebration to mark the 25 years of service in Christ’s vineyard as a Bishop.
