Rt. Rev. Kasonde has further noted that this is a reason why there is a need to have communion and participation of all Christians.
“It is living together in oneness as Catholics, as Christians sharing our faith with our brothers and sisters; secondly it is participation, in the faith have received; and thirdly, going on mission,” Bishop Kasonde said.
Rt. Rev. Kasonde said this on Sunday 24th October 2021 in his Diocese when he launched the Synod process under the theme ‘For a Synodal Church, Communion participation and Mission’.
“We want to remain faithful to this call of Christ, that is to go on mission. We go out participating in it, generating the faith and also sustaining it in the manner God has done it. And this is what we continue to do here in Africa through our Small Christian Communities, outstations, lay organizations and through Eucharist celebration,” he said.
Terrence Katiki of Radio Kabangabanga the diocesan radio station, reports that Bishop Kasonde also reminded Christians that the Pope has a special eye on gender balance and on the youth.
“Women are the majority in our Church, how can they be appreciated, uplifted and meaningfully participate in the ministry of the Church? Secondly, the youth: these are the drive engineers. They are full of energy. How can we use their power to evangelise, and also enrich their participation in the church? These are some of questions that we need to reflect on as we go through this process of Synod,’’ he said.
