Bishop-elect Joseph Mlola |
The Bishop-elect is replacing Archbishop Protace Rugambwa who was appointed as adjunct Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and President of the Pontifical Missionary Works in 2012.
He was born in Mashati Rombo, Tanzania in 1966 and was ordained a priest in 1997. The bishop-elect studied dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Urbanian University and has served in a number of pastoral roles, including parish vicar of Nairagie Enkare, diocese of Ngong, Kenya; vice rector of the Holy Spirit College, Morogoro, Tanzania; parish vicar of Caliti, Italy, and vice rector of the St. Charles Lwanga interdiocesan major seminary, Dar-es-Salaam before appointed Rector of St Paul Seminary, Kipalapala.
