Kenya’s Ngong Diocese has reached out to over two hundred displaced families both Catholics and non-Catholics after Mara River broke its banks and swept away homes and hundreds of animals over a week ago.
“We have come to show our solidarity and love through our donation to the affected families,” Bishop John Oballa Owaa who is the Local Ordinary of Ngong Diocese said while addressing the vulnerable families and continued, “Most of all we have come to give you hope. God has given you life, he has saved you from death. Have hope that God will always be there to support you with his caring love.”
“I beseech you to pray that the calamities that have befallen the country; the locust invasion, floods and the Covid-19 may end,” he added.
While officiating the donation exercise at Emarti one of the outstations under Narok County on Thursday, May 7, Bishop Oballa lauded the National and County Government for their response in assisting the displaced families and called on friends and well-wishers to continue with the noble exercise of supporting the families until the situation normalizes.
The diocese donated foodstuff and clothing among other things, a contribution which was from Christians within the Diocese of Ngong and well-wishers.
The prelate asked all Kenyans to continue adhering to Government directives in combating the deadly Covid-19 pandemic by ensuring they maintain social distance, avoiding handshake and practicing hand-washing and sanitization.
