St Mary's National Major Seminary Ggaba |
"You should know that leadership in the Church is a service rendered to the People of God". This was a statement of Rev. Fr. Lazarus Luyinda, the Rector of St Mary's National Major Seminary Ggaba to the new student leadership of the Seminary.
Addressing the new student leaders sworn in on Sunday 8th March 2020, the Rector urged the new student leaders to practice leadership of service to the Seminary community even when they are in their various Dioceses spread across the country.
He challenged the new student leaders to use the opportunity granted as a chance for them to learn other techniques of leadership, and to grow in their formation while following the example of Jesus in a move to become responsible future Church leaders.
In his address, the Rector appealed to the new leaders to open their ears and inner hearts to listen to the voice of God and be guided to render the authentic service to the community of the Seminary.
He appreciated the out-gone leaders for their excellent and commendable job performed during their time of leadership for the good of the entire Seminary community.
The new student leaders of the Seminary sworn in on Sunday are: Zavario Tindimwebwa from Kabale Diocese as the Head Prefect; Maxwell Africa from Nebbi Catholic Diocese as the Assistant Head Prefect while Seminarian Ronald Mutegeki from Fort Portal Diocese was sworn in as the Arch. Meanwhile eight House Captains who are now the members of the students' council were also sworn in among other leaders with various responsibilities.
