By Pamela Adinda, AMECEA Online News
A Religious, Brother Norbert Emmanuel Mugarura, who was mysteriously killed on July 3, 2019 was laid to rest on Monday July 8 at Kiteredde in Kyotera District. Described as a true servant of God by a member of his Congregation, Brother Norbert met his death in unclear circumstances which as of now are still under Uganda Police investigation.
Although a number of Catholic Media Organizations as well as secular media both in Uganda and abroad in reporting the death of Brother Mugarura have referred to him as a Catholic Priest, AMECEA would like to clarify that he was a Superior General to a local Congregation of Brothers called Brothers of St. Charles Lwanga, locally known as ‘Bannakarooli’. The Congregation started in Uganda in 1927 but has since spread to Kenya and Tanzania.
He met his death having served in the position for barely 158 days for he was elected Superior General on January 27, 2019.
