Rt. Rev. Stephen Nyadho Ador Majwok, Bishop-Elect Catholic Diocese of Malakal |

The Catholic Diocese of Malakal in South Sudan, which has been vacant for a decade finally has a shepherd. The Holy Father Francis on Thursday, May 23 appointed Rev. Fr. Stephen Nyodho Ador Majwok, currently Vicar General, as the Bishop of the diocese.
Born on 1st January 1973 in the village of Andong, Diocese of Malakal, Fr. Nyadho attended primary schools in Adong and Thawrat Malakal (1982-1989) and later the St. Lwanga Institute (1990-1997). He studied Philosophy at St. Paul National Major Seminary in Khartoum from 1997 to 2000, and Theology from 2000 to 2005.
He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Malakal on 15 May 2005. Since his ordination, he has held the following roles and carried out the following studies: 2005-2008, Parish Vicar of the Christ the King Cathedral, Malakal; 2008-2009, Acting Parish Priest of the Christ the King Cathedral, Director of the Diocesan Centre for Pastoral Care; 2009-2013, Priest of the Cathedral; Diocesan Coordinator for pastoral courses; Youth Chaplain; Member of the College of Diocesan Consultors; Member of the diocesan investment group.
Between 2013-2016, he studied in Rome at the Pontifical Urbaniana University for a Licentiate in Moral Theology and between 2016-2018, he studied for a Doctorate in Moral Theology in Rome at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas.
Malakal Diocese fell vacant following the resignation of Rt. Rev Vincent Mojwok Nyiker (RIP) on May 16, 2009 upon reaching the age limit as prescribed by the Canon Law. Bishop Mojwok later on died January 5, 2018.
