The Centre for Social Justice and Ethics at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in partnership with Alliance of Religions and Conservations (ARC), launched the book “Stewardship of God’s Creation: A Catholic Environmental Toolkit for Catechists and Seminarians” on 21st March 2014, at CUEA’s Lang’ata Campus. The Launch was preceded by celebrations to mark the World Water Day.
Speaking at the book launch the guest of honour, His Lordship, Bishop Alfred Rotich, formerly of Kenya Military Ordinariate stated that a Christian’s responsibility for the environment begins with appreciation. “God looked at everything he had made and saw it was very good,” said Bishop Rotich. He added that we need to form our conscious, allow our faith to form our actions and by our actions we will form the actions of others.
AMECEA Secretariat was represented by Fr. Febian Pikiti, AMECEA Pastoral Department Coordinator. The book is a toolkit, written from an African theological perspective that has been prepared by the Center for Social Justice and Ethics in collaboration with the Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC). It speaks to the contemporary environmental issues affecting AMECEA offering African theological solutions.
