The President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, H.E Peter Cardinal Turkson Kwadwo Appiah has started an official visit to South Sudan while bringing prayers, felicities and good wishes of Pope to the country message of Peace from the Holy Father.
Cardinal Turkson was received by Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Barnaba Marial Benjamin and many Christians at Juba International Airport on 18th March 2014 (Tuesday evening). Dr Marial welcomed the Cardinal on behalf of the President and South Sudanese, telling him to feel at home.

At the reception at St Joseph Parish Cardinal Turkson told the faithful that he came to Juba to join South Sudanese in praying for peace.
The Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan Most Rev. Charles Daniel Balvo described the presence of Cardinal Turkson in South Sudan as a boost to peace in the country.
Bishop of Yei Erkulano Lodu Tombe who represented Bishops of South Sudan in welcoming the Cardinal said the presence of Cardinal Kwadwo in Juba manifest the great concern and solidarity of Pope Francis and the whole Universal Church.
Cardinal Turkson also opened a new Church at St Joseph Parish on Wednesday. He commended the parishioners for the “marvelous” work of building a new church from their local contributions. He pledged to support the completion of the new Church through the Archbishop of Juba, Paolino Lukudu Loro.
The Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo congratulated St. Joseph’s Parishioners and the faithful of the Archdiocese of Juba for building a new Church; describing it as a big achievement of the local Christians of St Joseph’s Parish and the Archdiocese.
