UGANDA: AMECEA Vice Chairman Appointed Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese

Bishop Emmanuel Obbo.
Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Emmanuel Obbo AJ, of the Congregation of the Apostles of Jesus, AMECEA Vice Chairman  andExecutive Board delegate from Uganda, as the New Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Tororo.

Information received from Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) Communication Office said the announcement of the appointment was made at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral in Tororo by the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda His Excellency Most Rev. Michael August Blume, on 2 January 2014.

Bishop Obbo will also serve as the Apostolic Administator (sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis)of the Diocese of Soroti in which he worked as an Ordinary of the diocese before the appointment.

Bishop Obbo is replacing His Grace Denis Lote Kiwanuka whom the Holy Father already accepted his retirement.

Bishop Obbo has served AMECEA as Ugandan delegate for six years while currently he is holding a position of AMECEA Vice Chairman. He holds a Doctorate degree in Philosphy from Urbaniana Pontifical University, Rome.
