Pope Francis on Thursday morning held an inter-faith dialogue with religious leaders before
the open air Mass at the ground of the University of Nairobi, where he advocated for peaceful co-existence among Kenyans and good governance to reduce radicalization among the youth.

The Roman Pontiff stressed the need to accommodate the diversity and difference in opinions by ensuring that this does not cause divisions. He further urged government and religious leaders to work towards reducing the gap between the rich and the poor which, according to him, is one of the contributing factors to the growth of radicalism, especially among the youth. “If employment is assured among the youth, it will reduce radicalization”, Pope Francis said.

A number of religious leaders were present at the meeting. This included the Anglican Archbishop Eliud Wabukhala, who stressed on the need for unity among various communities of faith and cultural background; the Supreme Council of Kenyan Muslims Chairman Abdulghafur El-Busaidy, who emphasized on the need for tolerance among all Kenyans by respecting the diversity of region and culture.
