The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) which is the Aid Agency for the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales, continues to show its commitment in responding to the needy in society by bringing hope, compassion and support to the Catholic Church in East Africa region.
Speaking during the Annual Regional Partners Meeting held in Machakos County, between 3rd to 5th November, Ms. Catherine Ogolla, CAFOD’s Country Representative said that CAFOD works with a diverse number of partners, which include Church partners, non-Church partners and private sector. They also work with the government through some partners.
During the meeting a number of agenda were lined up, which included creating awareness among partners of CAFOD’s new partnership policy which is known as the New International Partnership Policy.
“The policy is not different from what has been there except that it has been revised to take cognizance of the changes that CAFOD has gone through in the past one year. The information was disseminated to the partners who in turn have given their feedback,” Ms. Ogolla said expressing her delight that the partners are now fully aware of what CAFOD intend to implement with them and that the partners have clear understanding of the general principles, and the standards that are expected from them, a scenario which puts both CAFOD and partners on the same page.
This year’s meeting which attracted 60 participants included both partners and CAFOD program staff as well as the management staff provided a forum for sharing experiences and learning from one another. The meeting was also part of the planning for the year 2016
In an exclusive interview with the AMECEA Online News, the AMECEA Justice Peace and Caritas Department Coordinator Mr. Antony Mbandi said that CAFOD has remained a strong and significant partner for AMECEA Justice Peace and Caritas Department.
He said that the Partnership which has lasted for a long period of time has seen the growth and stability of the department in terms of Service delivery and projects implementation.
“The strength of CAFOD is that they don’t just fund you, they walk with you as partners. They are keen on long term engagements and are always looking very strongly at the transformation at the community level, which is grounded on the background of the people of England and Wales, ho are the main benefactors of CAFOD and are just local ordinary people,” says Mr. Antony Mbandi.
