Centre for Social Justice and Ethics of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) hosted the second interfaith youth forum on environment and peace on 9th and 10th October at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
The Environmental component of the forum created awareness among the youth on the forth-coming climate change negotiations in Paris. Young people were invited to use social media, and sign online petitions directed at world leaders to provide real solutions to the challenge of climate change.
The Peace component of the forum made young people aware of the central value teachings of other faiths and religions. They also learnt that at the level of values, all religions are in favor of humanity.
In attendance was Mr. Uwe Wissnenbach the acting head of delegation of the EU in Kenya, Dr. Dorcas Otieno of the Kenya Organization of Environmental Education. Religious leaders in attendance were Rev. Dr. Charles Odira of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, Mr. Abdala of SUPKEM and Dr. Hashmuk Dawda of the Golden Rule International.
The third interfaith youth forum is scheduled for September 30th and October 1st 2016. The forum has always been organized in collaboration with the Franciscan Office of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation.
