The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), through its Commission for Liturgy, has organized a National Eucharistic Congress ahead of Pope Francis’ Apostolic visit to Kenya.
The congress, which will take place on 3rd October, 2015 at the Village of Mary National Shrine in Subukia, Nakuru, is also a preparatory event for the Papal visit to Kenya in late November, besides coinciding with the National Prayer Day.
In an interview with KCCB, the Acting General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Charles Odira, the Eucharist is the centre of Christian life hence the celebration is a moment to deepen Christian faith around it.
Fr. Odira, who is also the National Executive Secretary of the KCCB - Commission for Pastoral and Lay Apostolate, said the Church aims at sensitizing, emphasizing and promoting Eucharistic adoration in the lives of the Christians.
He confirmed that all the Kenyan Bishops, the clergy and religious and the laity from all the 25 Dioceses will attend, envisaging over 20,000 participants in total to take part in the celebrations.
According to the official program, the celebrations will commence on 2nd October, 2015 where the consecrated men and women will celebrate mass in the afternoon, pray the rosary and participate in the Way of the Cross, talks, Eucharistic adoration and evening vigil. On 3rd October, 2015, there will be a procession and Holy Mass at 10.00am followed by speeches from the bishops.
