A delegation from Malawi to the World Meeting of Family in Philadelphia, United States has described this year’s gathering as a crucial event to the Catholic Church of Malawi and families based on the theme of  “Love is our mission: the Family fully alive.”

Report received from Philadelphia through Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) Director, who accompanied the delegates together with and His Lordship Bishop Peter Musikuwa of Chikwawa diocese and Bishop Chair for Pastoral Commission said that the delegates were overwhelmed by the generosity of the people in Philadelphia and that it was exciting to meet and interact with many families, priests and bishops.

“We had good time in the company of Mexican families staying with us in the same hotel...we were able to share good times together despite of the language barriers of English and espanol,” read the report.

Fr. Mwakhwawa said that the theme for this year’s meeting will help them to explore critical roles the families must play in society and to give them an opportunity to talk about challenges and blessings that families have.

Twelve ECM delegations, comprised of five couples, one priest and a Bishop left Malawi for Philadelphia, US to join the world in the meeting of Families scheduled from 26 to 27 September 2015.

The theme of the World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015 is “Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive,” emphasizing the impact of the love and life of families on our society.
