Speaking to AMECEA Online News on phone, Fr. Odwa Paul, the Secretary General to the Bishop’s Conference said that “The Conference has managed to purchase the land and is now building premises for the university.”
In his speech during the laying of the foundation stone on Saturday the Catholic Bishops Education Commission Chairman Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala said that laying the foundation stone for the University owned by the Catholic Church is cementing a high hope for the future of the institution and a vision of South Sudan.
He said the Catholic University will continue to contribute to the academic development of South Sudan and the globe and to achieve many great things. “Making education accessible to all is absolutely essential to social progress; otherwise we limit the potential for developing the leaders our world so desperately needs to only half the population.”
Fr. Jacob also told AMECEA Online Newsthat the Bishops’ Conference is currently engaged in talks with members of the local community who have land near the university in an effort to purchase more land to expand the university.
