TANZANIA: TEC Universities holds their graduations in November 2013

The two Catholic Universities of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference namely Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS-Bugando) and St. Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT) both in the Archdiocese of Mwanza will be having their graduations on the 16thand 30th November 2013 respectively.

Established in the year 1994 as a constituent college of SAUT by Tanzania Episcopal Conference to contribute to the training of more professionals in the country’s health sector CUHAS will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary and 6th Graduation ceremony on the 16th November 2013

The University is located in the premises of the Bugando Medical Centre (BMC) in Mwanza, which is an 870-bed teaching, referral, and consultant hospital belonging to the Catholic Church, and serves about one third of country’s population. It provides space and faculty for clinical training of its students with the six regions of Tanzania around Lake Victoria providing the catchments area. Prof. Jacob P. Mtabaji is the Vice Chancellor of CUHAS.

Established in 1998 as University governed by the Board of Trustees and the University Council under the Catholic Bishops of Tanzania (Tanzania Episcopal Conference), SAUT will be holding its 15th graduation ceremony under the theme Education for Innovative Tanzanian Generation and Self Employment.

SAUT was accredited by the higher Education Accreditation Council of Tanzania (currently known as the Tanzania Commission for Universities).

The University attracts students from Tanzania and elsewhere, particularly the countries of East and Central Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Burundi, Malawi, and Zambia.

SAUT has the following faculties: Business Administration, Social Sciences, Education, Law and Engineering and offers academic programs in Journalism (both print and electronics), Mass Communication, Public Relations, Accountancy, Sociology and Economics. Other academic Programs include Procurement and Logistics, Law, Engineering (Civil and Electrical), Education (Arts and Science), Human Resources Management, Marketing Management, Health Administration and Tourism.

The university also offers service such as Radio production through Radio SAUT FM, TV production studio, resting house, Human Rights Centre, Training, Health Services, Catering Services and American Corner which is a mini-library; a source of information about the United States and Tanzania people, including their culture and values.

The Constituent Colleges of SAUT includes: Mwenge University College of Education, Jordan University College, University College of Law and Technological Science (RUCO), Archbishop Mihayo University College Tabora (AMUCTA), St. Francis University College of Health and Allied Science (SFUCHAS) and Mtwara University College of Education.
