The Catholic Archbishop of Juba, Paolino Lukudu Loro, has reminded the leaders of South Sudan to embrace peace and welfare of the citizens as the country celebrates its 4th anniversary of independence.
Archbishop Lukudu told the people of South Sudan that the Independence Day is a celebration of the land that God has entrusted to the South Sudanese. The people of South Sudan should therefore remember that they are citizens of the country and not of its leaders, fighters or other people seeking for power.
He added that South Sudan needs to start a new life and the government has to find new ways of administering the country in order to move forward and solve the recurrent problems that are affecting it.
He reiterated the strong message of the Church that the current violence and war in the Country must stop. He appealed to the leaders of the country to end the conflict if they have power to do so.
Archbishop Lukudu urged leaders to look ahead and think about the future of the Country and prepare for the moment they would conclude their mandate so as not to leave a legacy of war and chaos to the future generation.
He reminded the leaders to avoid violence as a means to achieving lasting peace rather than violence to solve conflicts.
