The Archbishop of Songea, Most Rev Damian Dallu, has encouraged the youth to be vigilant and to always remember that nothing should justify breaking their relationship with Christ, their Saviour.
Speaking at the closing of the Catholic Youth Conference on 15 June 2015, Archbishop Dallu said that he was aware of the challenges the youth are going through in their lives. He said, “Despite some of these challenges you as youth are facing, you must look for an alternative way to find a solution and not to continue complaining and despair. All these challenges will come but should not make you separate from Christ.”
Archbishop Dallu told the youth that successes only come after sweating. “Avoid short cuts in life. But you should also know that there is no life without God,” he said.
He warned the youth against contributing to environmental degradation. He asked them to leadsociety in the protection of the environment simply because the environment is life.
"Environmental Protection is the culture of Tanzanians and that is why green –which means vegetation- is one of the colours of the national flag. Very unfortunate; environmental degradation has grown roots in our society; the country is moving towards becoming a desert.”
He further said, “this is unacceptable; we must change.”
