Easter, according to the Ethiopian calendar of this year, will be celebrated on April 12, 2015 this year.

Delivering his message during Easter Benediction Cardinal Berhaneyesus said, “If we support and take care of the elders, the street children, the sick and those who are alone it will not only show that Christ is within us but also reflect the love we have for others.”

“Easter is the time to reflect on all the graces received from the Good Lord and thank him,” he said adding that ““We as Christians must follow and imitate the example of our Lord Jesus Christ and love all the people around us. He is our Savior and we must take advantage of the opportunity of being saved he has given us. If we are humble and do his will he will glorify us, we will be part of the graces and joys of His Resurrection.”

Cardinal Berhaneyesus who is also the President of CBCE called on the people of Ethiopia to also pray for peace around the world. “Even though we are living in a constantly changing world we must pray to the Lord to give us strength to maintain our Faith, we must reflect the resurrection of Jesus Christ in our daily activities, we must follow His example and try to be good Christians,” he said.

He also called on the people of Ethiopia to pray for a peaceful and successful conduct of the national election to be held on May 24, 2015.
