The Chairman of AMECEA, His Eminence Berhaneyesus D. Cardinal Souraphiel accompanied by His Eminence John Cardinal Njue, the Archbishop of Nairobi, Kenya and the Patron of AMECEA visit Missio München last week for specific pastoral mission of AMECEA.

The two Cardinals were accompanied by Very Rev Fr. Ferdinand Lugonzo AMECEA Secretary General and Rev Fr. Chrisantus Ndaga AMECEA Deputy Secretary General and Social Communications Coordinator in their visit which was from 14th– 20thMarch 2014.
Speaking to AMECEA Online News upon their return Fr. Lugonzo said that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen partnership between AMECEA and Missio Aachen and Missio München and also to discuss specific partnership with regards to AMECEA Strategic Plan.
“AMECEA Delegation through the chairman H.E. Cardinal Berhaneyesus took the visit also as an occasion to express gratitude for the help and support that AMECEA Region has always been receiving from both Missio Aachen and Missio München,” said Fr. Lugonzo.
While in Munchen, the delegation also visited H.E. Reinhard Cardinal Marx, Archbishop of München; the Mayor of Munich and also the Benedictine Monastery in Bavaria on the Feast of Saint Joseph. “We also had time of sharing our experiences with the representatives from the Dioceses within Bavaria,” he said.
“As AMECEA we sincerely thank Missio Aachen and Missio München for organizing the whole event; we had wonderful receptions, and meetings that I believe will help strengthen our collaborations,” Fr Lugonzo said.
He said among the issues they shared with the hosts included the challenging situations in the region, such as insecurity, internal conflicts and displacement of people. “The question of migration which affects Eritrea where young people are fleeing the country to Europe was also discussed at length,” he said.
