The UN children agency or UNICEF says 70 percent of the 1, 200 schools in major conflict hit areas of South Sudan remain closed. In the news by Catholic Radio Network and captured AMECEA Online, 36 schools of the 1, 200 are being used for military purposes.

While the leaders are meeting in Addis Ababa for peace talks, the UN agency reported that more than 12 thousand children were recruited by the warring parties including 89 schoolboys who were abducted one month ago from Wau Shilluk in Upper Nile State. The UN agency has continued to call for the release of hundreds of abducted children.

According to the statement by the UN agency, 200 thousand of target children and adolescents who are supposed to go back to school are in conflict states but until now there is very little hope for peace to return in the war torn region.

Meanwhile the former director of Radio Bakhita of Juba Diocese, Mr. Tokwaro Fabian Albino, has died. Mr. Tokwaro, who prior to his death was admitted at Juba Medical Complex for five days due to diabetic and high blood pressure, died on Saturday 14th and was buried on Sunday 15th March, 2015.

The late Tokwaro is remembered for his work in the Catholic Church Radio Ministry in South Sudan and the Sudan Council of Churches.

He left Bakhita Radio on 1st November, 2014 and since then, he was teaching at Christian University in Juba.

May His Soul Rest in Peace.
