The Apostolic Nuncio of South Sudan and Kenya Most Rev Charles Balvo on Friday visited Malakal Catholic Diocese accompanied from Juba by Apostolic Administrator Monsignor Roko Taban Musa.
Malakal Diocese Vicar General Fr Angelo Mojwok, Upper Nile State Deputy Governor Gwin Philip Chan, and United Nations Mission in South Sudan State Coordinator Deborah Shein welcomed Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo at Malakal airport.
The Vatican Ambassador who was received by Malakal faithful at St Joseph's Cathedral said his visit on behalf of Pope Francis was in solidarity with the people of Malakal.
He reported that the Pope knows about the suffering brought about by the war and prays for peace.
Archbishop Charles Balvo disclosed to the faithful that he started the process for the appointment of a bishop to the diocese, inviting them to pray so that a man who is "a good shepherd" can be chosen.

Diocese of Malakal Apostolic Administrator Monsignor Roko Taban Musa authorized the radio reopening after consultations with members of the CRN board.
