Sudanese Air Force or SAF directly targeted Medicines Sans Frontiers or MSF hospital in an aerial bombing in Southern Kordofan, Sudan on Tuesday, forcing the suspension of medical activities.
MSF head of mission Marc Van der Mullen in a statement CRN obtained on Friday, said the bombing of the hospital in the Nuba Mountains’ village of Frandala deprived the local population of life saving care.
He strongly condemned the act, lamenting that more than 100 patients present were frightened of further attacks.
The head of mission explained that a SAF fighter jet dropped 13 bombs of which two landed inside the hospital compound, wounding one MSF staff and patient and damaged property.
Mr Van der Mullen described the bombing as “a deliberate and targeted act on a civilian hospital and part of a strategy to terrorize the community.”
He called on Khartoum again to respect the assistance MSF brought to the population, pledging to find a way to continue caring for the population caught in the war.
