The Catholic University of Eastern Africa CUEA will be holding its 28th graduation ceremony on 4th October 2013 at the university grounds in Langata Nairobi. Over 2500 students will be awarded degrees in various faculties including Theology, Art and Social Science, Commerce, Science, Education, Law, Social Justice and Ethics and Cannon Law.

The awards will include post graduate and undergraduate degrees, diplomas and certificates. The graduation ceremony will include all constituent colleges of CUEA, Eldoret GABA Campus, Kisumu Campus and City Campus, which is situated at I & M building in Nairobi Central business area.

The chief guest during the ceremony will be the Nairobi county Governor Dr. Evans Kidero.

Among some of the major achievements the university has witnessed in the recent past include the establishment and commissioning of Pope Paul VI Learning Resource Center, which has been rated the best Library in Africa; while CUEA's University Librarian, Rev. Dr. Fr. Maurice Kisenyi, was elected as the new Chairperson for the Kenya University Librarians for the next two years. He succeeds Dr. Tirong Arap Tanui, the University Librarian at Moi University.

Another major achievement is the opening of a new campus at the city center in Nairobi. Moved by her desire to serve the Church and society, the Catholic University of Eastern Africa started its third Campus on 23rd April, 2013. It is situated at the Central Business District (NCBD): I&M Bank Towers 10th, 11th and 14th floor and it is meant to reach out to many professionals who seek to advance their career and young scholars who are coming into the scholarship world with many young dreams to realize. The City Campus as it is known brings her services closer to the people, enabling all to develop their career and pursue their scholarly skills in an affordable, convenient and excellent way.

CUEA also hosts the IBM Research lab, which will officially be commissioned on 29th October this year. The Lab is currently in its final stages of construction.

Another major achievement within the recent past is the Certificate of Re-inspection (Commission for University Education) which was issued to the University by the government of Kenya. This certificate allows the CUEA to operate as a Private Chartered University. CUEA's constituent colleges; Hekima College, Tangaza College, Marist International College and Regina Pacis University College, were awarded with re-inspection reports at the same event.

On 23rd February 2013, CUEA launched a strategic plan 2012-2022, at the Learning Resource Center auditorium. The event was graced by the AMECEA executive board, principals of CUEA's affiliate colleges and the University's staff and students.

The University’s Vice Chancellor Monsignor Dr. Pius Rutechura described the ten-year strategic plan as "The blueprint that will guide the growth of the University." He said that special emphasis on the plan is based on ICT as CUEA plans to go digital in its processes. "Students will access programmes, fee balances and other services at the touch of a button."

In addition to its many achievements, CUEA recently opened a school for post graduate Studies.
AMECEA congratulates all the graduates for their achievements and the whole of CUEA fraternity led by Msgr. Pius Rutechura for the dedication and hard work that has seen the university achieve more and more and continue to shine in the academic sphere; may God bless your work.
