The Archbishop of Juba in a press statement on Thursday 30th October declared Bakhita Radio officially reopened.
Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro called on Bakhita, other Catholic radios of the Network and all radios in South Sudan to honestly and efficiently deliver messages of hope, reconciliation and peace to people as Jesus did to all persons in the world.
He pointed out that Bakhita Radio was closed for two months due to administrative, technical and financial irregularities.
He said the Archdiocese formed a committee to put the irregularities in order, so that the Station reflects the voice of the Catholic Church in Juba.
Archbishop Lukudu said the Archdiocese also constituted a Board of Governance headed by a Vicar-General and appointed Acting director to carry out the reform process.
He explained that a policy book of the Radio is under revision to be signed into law by the end of the year, adding that staff reduction would be completed late December.
Archbishop Lukudu appealed for emergency support as Bakhita Radio would face financial challenges to operate well for some months.
It is worth mentioning that Bakhita transmitter burnt during the test on Wednesday, evening, but another would reach Juba on Friday for listeners to enjoy programmes.
The Archdiocesan Administration promoted the former Radio Programme Manager, Josephine Achiro, to lead the station after handing termination letter to the former Director, Albino Tokwaro, effective from November 30, 2014.
The Radio was stopped by National Security organs, but the Archdiocese after getting keys decided to form an investigative committee to scrutinize the station.
