Archbishop Philip Arnold Anyolo |
The celebration brought together clergy, Religious, lay faithful and politicians from the metropolitan.
During the celebration the Archbishop was described as a humble servant of God and a good listener, among other virtues he has.
“He will always carry a smile with him, he will always listen not only to what is being said but also what is not said and this shows that listening is strength. His humility teaches us the way of Christ,” Fr James Kairo narrated during the homily.
Commenting on the large number of people who came to bid him farewell, Fr Kairo added that one can touch peoples’ lives without using money.
“I believe that His Grace did not give out money for people to attend this occasion, but you have come because He served you and this shows that you can touch people lives without necessarily giving money”, he said.
Speaking on behalf of all the Catholic faithful, the chairperson for the Laity Mr Peter Barrack Okumu commended Archbishop Anyolo for serving the Archdiocese of Kisumu with an outstanding leadership.
“We are impressed by how he has served as and what he has put in place for the Archdiocese of Kisumu,” he stated.
Okumu also applauded the Archbishop for ensuring that the elderly priests have a comfortable home. And he urged the Archbishop to remember the project left behind of renovating Cathedral saying, “As you transit to Nairobi Archdiocese, remember the projects that we have underway, especially the renovation of our Cathedral.”
