The president of Bishops’ conference of Sudan and South Sudan (SSSBC) Rt. Rev. Bishop Tembe Trille on Wednesday, 11 November 2021, called on Bishops to pray for the dioceses which do not have bishops yet, as they begin the annual plenary assembly. President of Bishops' Conference

During the opening of the plenary assembly, Bishop Tombe Trille expressed that they ought to pray for the remaining dioceses in the Conference so that they too may have shepherds soon.
“I want that, together, we pray for these dioceses that soon they may get shepherds to care for them. Off course, that soon means also our contributions, I mean taking a little and serious time not only in prayers but also recommending the candidates being proposed to us, speak the true and right things. That will be a very good sign also to help those who are concerned so that the number of brother shepherd increases in the Conference”.
The SSSCBC Trille states that the purpose of the plenary assembly is to foster the spirit of their collegiality, spirit of their responsibility, spirit of Solidarity and cooperation for the Christian faithful both Sudan and South Sudan.
“The purpose of this institution we are in was stipulated by our punier fathers 45 years ago, and it was mend and still mend today that to foster the spirit of our collegiality, the spirit of our responsibility, the spirit of our solidarity and cooperation, the spirit of collaboration among us the Bishops’ of this conference Sudan and South Sudan so that when we gather like now in this plenary, we jointly may exercises pastoral functions for the Christian faithful in both Countries Sudan and South Sudan”.
Bishop Trille explains that they can only promote the integral well been of the faithful through having proper structure and administration in plenary conference.
He says they talk of the well been of the faithful, they should also talk of the well been of the assets of the national institutions.
“I want to also to highlight that the fact that we are talking of the well been of the faithful it also means the well been of the Assets of the national institution that which we are custodian and steward, we have that user for the well and promotion of the faithful spiritual and pastoral well been and so we need really maybe during this time to reflect on how committed are we regarding our national institutions has mains of promotion the well been of our spiritual faithful, how peaceful our concusses are knowing that many of our asset are lost or misused”
He adds as they start the plenary assembly they need also to consider their role as conference in the Universal Church and their responsibility as conference of Sudan and South Sudan.
“I want to bring the last point on our pastoral issue as we program our collegial pastoral mission, I said we need to consider also our role as conference in the universal Church, our responsibility toward what is excepted of us as conference, the local church of this conference, we are already working together on the Eucharistic congress, I pray we take it serious on how we can play our role as universal Church.
He also gave thanks for the last plenary they had last year which has brought in fruitful result of new Bishop of Wau Diocese and also Bishop elect Christian to the Diocese of Rumbek
The Sudan and South Sudan Catholic Bishops’ conference started with the Eucharistic mass and the officially opening of the plenary by the president of Bishops’ conference later evening at good shepherd peace center in Kit Juba South Sudan.
The assembly which started on 11 November in South Sudan is carried under the theme; “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in memory of me”. And it will end on 17, of November 2021.
