Speaking during his homily at the St. Theresa`s Cathedral Kator in Juba, the Auxiliary Bishop Santo Laku Pio Dogale stated that by having the vision of faithful as believer, one will follow God in the right way and care for others as Jesus the son of God did.
The auxiliary bishop Santo said faithful should learn how to live in compassion with one another because that is what God wants from his children on this earth.
He explained that many times the faithful don’t see the needs of other people, and that is why they act in ungodly ways.
“May dear brothers and sisters, many times we are blind, we don’t see. We have eyes that can’t see; we have ears that can’t hear; we have nose but we can’t smell. That is why we act the way we do, but if you can see with eyes of faith you can then communicate and follow Christ. we need this vision, the vision of faith to be able to see the needs of our brothers and Sisters, to be able to see the needs of our family members, to be able to see the needs of our society, to be able to see the needs of the community, we need to this ears of faith to be able to hear the cry of the needy like Bartolommeo”
Bishop Laku Pio calls on the faithful to ask Jesus to have sympathy on them and give them the eyes that can see the needs of people passing by just like as Jesus healed the blind man Bartolommeo.
“As Christians we are called today to receive the sight like Bartimeus, to cry to Jesus, ‘son of David, have pity on us’, have pity on me give me this eyes that I’m able to see you passing by, that I’m able to see you in the blind, that I’m able to see you in the hungry, that I’m able to see you in the displace, that I’m able to see you in all those suffering with different types of diseases and sickness”.
He quoted the Gospel of Mathew in the 30th Sunday in ordinary time, when Bartolommeo who was blind and how he was transformed by the call of Jesus. After healing him, Jesus told Bartolommeo to “go on his way” but instead he follows Jesus.
Bishop Santo Laku Pio was appointed as auxiliary bishop of Juba and titular bishop of Equisetum on 27 Nov 2010.
