Ginaba Lino

St. John Yambio Campus of the Catholic University of South Sudan has on 28 October 2021 welcomed academic cooperation agreement which was signed with Seton Hall University of USA.

The agreement is to allow exchange of staff and students between the two universities which will deepen the understanding and appreciation of the people, practices, the realities of the two universities, and the two local Churches of South Sudan and the U.S.A.

In a statement read by Rt. Rev. Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kusala, he said, the Academic Cooperation agreement that has been signed between Seton Hall University USA, and St. John’s Yambio Campus of the Catholic University of South Sudan is welcoming news not only for the Catholic University of South Sudan but for the whole Church in South Sudan.

Bishop Hiiboro said he has hope that the collaboration will enrich the Catholic university of South Sudan in many ways, though the two universities are located in different contexts and conditions.

“As the patron of the University Campus and the Bishop designated by the Bishop’s Conference for the university, I have great hope that this collaboration will enrich our university in many ways. Obviously, the two universities are located in different contexts and conditions and therefore incapable of engaging with equal capacities and measures. For a university of rich tradition and records of excellence to partner with a new emerging and promising university is no doubt motivated by the genuine spirit of fraternity and solidarity of Catholic Universities of the universal Church. I take it, therefore, as an expression of the universal Communion of the people of God”.

He disclosed that he is very confident that the Catholic University of South Sudan’s administration and management will take the opportunity to enhance the development of the university to the level of maturity.

“I am very confident that the Catholic University of South Sudan’s administration and management will take this opportunity to enhance the development of the university to a level of maturity and excellence that we all desire as it has to expand all over the nation. Despite the uniqueness of the history and level of development of each institution, there is so much we share in common”.

In a conclusion, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio and  Patron of St. John’s Yambio Campus of the Catholic University of South Sudan commended the bilateral agreement between the two universities and assured the two institutions of fatherly support and blessings.

“I, therefore, commend this bilateral agreement between the two universities while assuring the two institutions of my blessings. Please the esteemed Administration of Seton Hall University, accept my warmest and fraternal appreciation for this desired relationship. Be sure of my prayers for you and all your students and staff”.

St. John Yambio Campus is the branch of South Sudan Catholic University under the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio and it was established on November 6, 2019 under the leadership of His Lordship Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kusala.
