The Bishop of Lira Diocese Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok has implored Christian families to embrace Sacrament of Holy Matrimony in a bid to cement their relationship with God.

He made the appeal on the occasion of a canonical erection of Saint Luke the Evangelist Aputi Catholic Parish in Amolatar district.

Addressing the congregation during the Eucharistic celebration attended by Christians and other dignitaries, the Bishop noted that for a parish to function properly, it should be built and supported by Christian families that are united in the life of Sacrament of the Holy Matrimony.

Bishop Sanctus further noted that through Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, Christians can make their families a domestic Church where Christ is encountered in the sharing of His Word and Sacrament so as to transform their lives.

Expressing his disappointment that only few couples receive the Sacrament of the Holy Matrimony, the Bishop said it is not too late timely for them to do so.

He also urged Christians to support priests in the parish so that the work of evangelization may have great impact in the lives of the people of God.

He has appealed to Christians to remain united in the work to facilitate development in the new parish.

Apart from unity and cooperation, Rt. Rev. Sanctus exhorted Christians to stay away from acts of violence and embrace peaceful ways of handling conflicts.

Lira Diocese is opening new parishes as a way to strengthen grassroots evangelization.

So far, three new parishes have been erected within a space of one month with the view to bring Church services nearer to the people of God.
