Erected in 2011 the diocese of Kondoa prepares for the consecration of its new Holy Spirit Cathedral in October 19th, 2014 during the Feast of St Paul of the Cross - the diocese’ patron.
Speaking to AMECEA Online News recently the Ordinary Rt Rev Bernardini Mfumbusa said they are in final stages of construction.
Bishop Mfumbusa thanked the clergy, religious, and the faithful of Kondoa Diocese for sacrifices made so far. The diocese also received support from the faithful in the Archdioceses of Dar es Salaam and Arusha as well as Dioceses of Moshi and Dodoma.
Meanwhile, support was also received from partners including Propagation of Faith (Vatican),
Missio-Munich, (Germany); United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Solidarity Fund for Africa, Kirche in Not, Missionary Sisters of St Peter Clavery, and the diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone (Italy).

“We pray for all the benefactors who made possible contributions from out partners,” Bishop Mfumbusa said.
The Diocese of Kondoa inherited a structure that was under construction since 2004. Initially, the church was intended to mark the centenary of Catholicism in Kondoa in 2007. The construction stalled, however, and the church was not completed in time to mark the auspicious occasion.
The prospective cathedral is expected to cost Tsh. 816,000,000 (Euro 388,571.-) on completion.
Kondoa diocese is one of the smallest in Tanzania with a population of 50,000 Catholics out of the more than 450,000 people in the district.
