The 16th General Assembly of ACWECA came to a close on 27th August, 2014 by the celebration of Holy Mass led by the Apostolic Nuncio to Zambia and Malawi His Excellency Julio Murat at Andrews Motel in Lusaka, Zambia. During his homily the Apostolic Nuncio called on Religious women to be compassionate and serve in hope. He said the sisters should emulate the Lord Jesus Christ who was compassionate. “Jesus Christ was compassionate to the one who suffers”, he said adding that “This should give us consolation because the Lord is close to us with compassion.”
The Nuncio advised the sisters to deepen their faith when they meet challenges and grow in hope and love. He also encouraged all consecrated women to resolve to continue to serve Gods’ people despite the many problems they encounter in accordance with the theme of the plenary, “Go, do not be afraid and serve”.
The Apostolic Nuncio urged the sisters to be outstanding in living Christian virtues and prayer life like St. Monica who persevered in prayer until her son was converted. “St. Monica wept every night for the conversion of her son and her prayer was heard. She believed and trusted in the Lord. She was a woman of great faith, outstanding in virtue and prayer life,” he said.
