SOUTH SUDAN: US to Donate 180 Million Dollars for Food Aid to South Sudan

The US government has pledged to give South Sudan US Dollars 180 million for emergency food aid to help avert famine.
 
Information received from South Sudan said the National Security Advisor, Susan Rice announced the funding on Tuesday, saying South Sudan is facing the worst food insecurity situation in the world.
 
Susan Rice lamented that South Sudanese are suffering because of the inability of leaders to put national interests above their own.
 
Humanitarian agency, CARE estimated that four million people are at risk of a severe food crisis in the country.
 
The UN predicted that one million children under the age of five years would need treatment for "acute malnutrition" before the end of 2014.
 
The United States is the leading international benefactor to South Sudan, providing over 456 million Dollars in humanitarian aid.
 
Meanwhile,Ethiopia State Foreign Minister pledged that they stood committed to help the people of South Sudan realize peace, stability and prosperity.
 
Berhane Gebre-Christos made the pledge on Tuesday in his meeting with South Sudan Ambassador to Ethiopia Akuei Bona Malual to strengthen bilateral ties of the two countries.
 
The Minister said all countries of the IGAD and the international community support the negotiations to end the suffering of South Sudanese and create a harmonious region that could contribute to global peace and stability.
 
Mr Gebre affirmed that Ethiopia's relations with South Sudan were defining feature of consistent cooperation, common prosperity and mutual advancement, adding that they gave top priority to its relations with the young nation to reinforce each other's development endeavours.
 
Ambassador Malual welcomed Ethiopia's constructive role in the creation of conducive conditions for a political settlement of South Sudan crisis.
 
He expressed his gratitude to the Government of Ethiopia in making Addis Ababa a venue for the talks on South Sudan's peace and stability, emphasizing that his country attached special importance to a regional solution to resolve the conflict.
