Bishop Severin Niwemugizi of Rulenge-Ngara |
Bishop Severine Niwemugizi of Rulenge-Ngara Diocese in Tanzania has called on Christians to stand firm in faith as they await for the ultimate salvation that is coming on their way.
Bishop Niwemugizi who is also the Pro-President of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) said this on Tuesday, July 20 when he presided over the Eucharistic Celebration for delegates to the 18th AMECEA Plenary at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, Malawi’s Capital City.
The Bishop told the AMECEA delegates and Christians who attended the Holy Mass to emulate their day to day doings from Saint Mary Magdalene who remained firm in her faith in Jesus outside near the tomb where her Master was buried.
Bishop Niwemugizi dwelt his homily on the first reading from Song of Songs 3:1-4a that talks about a lover who awaits for her beloved one all night, and the Gospel reading from John 20:1-2, 11-18, which narrates the story about Mary Magdalene who stayed outside near the tomb weeping for beloved one, Jesus the Crucified.
He challenged the congregation to have the desire to meet Jesus Christ through the Sacraments.
“Let us have the love for Jesus as Saint Mary Magdalene had,” he said.
Rt Rev Niwemugizi also pointed out the need for Christians to recognize and listen to Jesus Christ because he is the Master at all times. He further urged the delegates of the plenary to be agents of proclamation of the Gospel by adapting to new ways of Evangelization in accordance with the signs of the times.
A joint choir from Mangochi Diocese animated the fifth day celebration of the Holy Eucharist with hymns and dancing.
