Malawian Catholic women have been advised to utilize the establishment of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) in order to advance their social and economic agenda.

Dr. Mary Shawa, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disabilities and Social Welfare in the Malawi government described AMECEA as a source of hope for women wishing to establish themselves as successful entrepreneurs and family members.

“AMECEA has opened a horizon where women from various countries share best practices on how best they could improve their social and economic welfare,’’ she added.

‘’Through AMECEA some women have owned hotels and other big investments,’’ said Dr. Shawa, a catholic woman who is a member of the Plenary planning committee.
