The training which started on 29 June and ended 3 July, 2014 attracted participants from South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia.

Explaining the purpose of the workshop, the Executive Secretary for AMECEA Social Communications department, Fr. Chrisantus Ndaga said that Catholic Communicators should now strive to have a common approach in reporting stories that are happening within the region.

He said that the regional office runs an online news bulletin, which is published every Friday and so need stories from all AMECEA member Conferences.

“In the last one year, we have experienced that many people in the region and outside read our online bulletin to access regional church information. What we want is that our correspondents send us good stories that do not require much effort to edit,” said Fr. Ndaga.

Participants expressed gratitude and appreciation to AMECEA and the United States Catholic Communication Campaign (USCCC) for partnering in the organization of the workshop and wanted that such workshops be given more time and be held more regularly.
