The President of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference, Rt Rev Tarcisius Ngalalekumtwa celebrated his Silver Jubilee of Episcopate on 1st July at the St therese Cathedral Iringa.
The celebration was also attended by Prime Minister Mizengo Peter Pinda, and other parties and government officials.
Speaking at the ceremony the Vice President of TEC Rt Rev Severine Niwe-Mugizi said the most important duty for an elders is to Pray. “May I ask you to pray for our Country,” he said.
Bishop Niwe-Mugizi warned on the vices that make the country fragile. These are such as Corruption, religious fundamentalism,the widening gap between the rich and the poor. “Thiscountrybelonged to farmersandworkers,buttodayit has changed to be the country of the few richandmanypoor.
Speaking on behalf of the Government the Prime Minister thankedBishopNgalalekumtwaforhelpingthe governmenttoprovidevarious community servicesincluding education, healthand others.
He asked theBishopsto continuepraying for the nation. “No country can develop with God’s help,” he said.
