Bishop Joseph Ludovick Minde has been installed as new bishop of Moshi Diocese on March 19 this year.
Archbishop of Arusha Most. Rev Isaac Amani who has been Apostolic Administrator of Moshi Diocese, congratulated Bishop Minde for accepting the new appointment from Kahama Diocese to Moshi Diocese.
He said Bishop Minde is being installed during the feast of St. Joseph the Worker so that God gives him an apostolic mission in Moshi the same way He entrusted to Saint Joseph Holy Family of Jesus and Mary.
“Joseph the Worker becomes a role model for fathers in particular, fulfilling their responsibilities to their families without compromising their responsibilities. We have had a wave of single-parent families, which is against God's plan. Bishop Minde, has been entrusted to administer and nurture His family in Moshi. We pray for the grace of God for you to carry out your mission accordingly,” said Archbishop Amani.
He has stated that for 19 years, Bishop Minde has served the Catholic Diocese of Kahama but God has seen him fit to become the bishop of Moshi Diocese which has been vacant from December 12, 2017.
“When Moshi Diocese was left without Bishop they prayed a lot and in their prayers they mentioned the need for six things; goodness, holiness, justice, truth, unity and peace. Today their needs have been fulfilled by the appointment and installation of Bishop Minde,” continued Archbishop Amani.
He then warned Tanzanians about Covid-19 disease saying it is best for everyone to follow the instructions on how to protect themselves from the disease.
“Some people mislead the community that black skin is less harmful to the disease. Don't be fooled! This disease is serious and life threatening. We must be careful and protect ourselves,” he insisted.
On the part of Bishop Minde, he thanked God for facilitating such celebrations even in sensitive times when the nation and the whole world are battling the Coronavirus.
"I thank all of you who organized this celebration. I was skeptical whether celebrations with the global Coronavirus pandemic could be possible. I was wondering if Government will not cancel the celebration. I thank the Government for seeing the importance of this gathering and celebration.
Moshi Diocese is now 67 years old and soon the Church will celebrate 70 years of Christianity in the Diocese.
