
Meriam Yehya Ibrahim was detained at Khartoum International Airport just a day after a court overturned her death sentence on allegation from the Security officials at Khartoum airport that her travel documents were not proper.
Vice Secretary General for Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference Fr. Butrus Trille Kuku confirmed to AMECEA online Newsthrough telephone from Khartoum that the woman was indeed detained at the airport because security agents were not satisfied with her documents.
Meriam Ibrahim was let out after 48 hours in detention for problems with her paperwork that stopped her from leaving Sudan.
Meriam is set to fly to South Sudan and from there on to America where she could start her new life.
