A priest in Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek Reverend Joseph Chisomo told Christians that there are difficulties facing the people.
Don Bosco Radio quoted him saying, the greatest obstacle during Jesus’ ministry was religious leaders who planned evil to destroy people.
“Our cultures are becoming obstacles to young girls, because parents force many of their girls into early marriage to get cows,” said Fr Chisomo.
The priest pointed out that it is the missionaries’ responsibility to encourage parents to protect young girls and not to be forced into early marriage according to the cultural practice.
Father Joseph Chisomo encouraged religious leaders and parents to condemn forced marriage which can destroy the life of young girls. Instead, they should give them chance to go to school for their better future.
The priest was preaching to the faithful on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Parish in Tonj.
