Secretaries General from AMECEA countries have recently been converging at AMECEA Secretariat in Nairobi for their ordinary meeting. Top on their agenda, according to AMECEA Secretary General Rev. Fr. Anthony Makunde, was an evaluation of the implementation of AMECEA Strategic Plan and the resolutions of the 19thPlenary Assembly which was held in July last year in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.
As part of the planning towards the implementations of the strategic plan and the plenary resolutions, Fr. Makunde expressed that AMECEA Secretariat has taken the initiative to move closer to the Conferences by having more of its activities held at the conferences level.
“Calling people to Nairobi has its advantages but we think that coming to the Conferences will cement and strengthen the corporation and networking that is supposed to be done by AMECEA Secretariat. This has been the model of our operation in this period and as such our departments here at the Secretariat have arranged quite a number of activities in the Conferences and we will continue to do that.”
During the meeting AMECEA Secretariat heads of department were given opportunities to share their activities with the Secretaries General in a bid to get feedback from them on how to improve on collaborations and effective service delivery.
“Your feedback is vital to us here at the Secretariat because we might be planning as a regional office for activities which may not be relevant to Conferences, and this would mean wastage of resources. We need to maximize the use of the little resources we have hence the need to plan according to what suits the Conferences, dioceses and institutions we have,” Fr. Makunde informed the Secretaries General.
The Secretaries General from AMECEA Region usually have two ordinary meetings in a year to share experiences, plan together and also review the implementations of whatever resolutions were made either by the plenary assembly or by the executive board meetings.
