The Episcopal Conference of Malawi, ECM, has during its June Plenary meeting, made new appointments in National institutions under its jurisdiction. In the new appointments, Rev Fr Valerian Mtseka, Diocesan Priest of Chikwawa Diocese is the new ECM Deputy Secretary General effective from August 1st 2019.
He is taking over from Rev. Fr. Regis Kamela of Lilongwe Archdiocese who will finish his term of Office on 1 August 2019. Fr Mtseka will continues to serve as National Chaplain of the Youth and Family Apostolates, a position he currently holds.
The Bishops have also appointed Rev. Fr. Henry Chinkanda, a Diocesan priest from the Diocese of Dedza as the new National Pastoral Coordinator. Fr Chinkanda who is currently ECM Catholic Parliamentary Liaison Officer will continue to serve in the same position. He takes over from Fr. Regis who was also National Pastoral Coordinator.

During the same meeting, the Bishops also appointed Formators and spiritual directors to St. Peter’s Major Seminary, Kachibere and Kusina Spiritual Formation Centre as well as renewing the contracts of various individuals who are currently serving the Bishops Conference in various capacities.
We congratulate those appointed in various positions of service and assure them of our prayers and collaborations,” says ECM Secretary General Rev. Fr Henry Saindi in a letter addressed to the various Catholic Institutions in Malawi.
“To those whose term of service has come to an end, we thank them for the outstanding service rendered to the Conference. We wish them the very best in their ministry as they return to their respective Arch/dioceses to continue serving the Lord with zeal and dedication,” wrote Fr. Saindi.
