Bishop Sanctus Lion Wanok, Priests and Laity after concluding training in Lira |

Due to factors such as war that negatively affected the people of northern Uganda, it’s now time the people head towards a direction that will make them easily assist one another, cooperate in business enterprises and achieve together.
These were the opening remarks made by the Bishop of Lira Diocese Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok while opening a two-day training on Co-operatives for the Diocesan Priests, Nuns and the Laity at the Apostolic Social Centre in Lira Municipality.
The Bishop said through the training, they as clergy hope to shepherd the flock with ease while they focus pastoral issues such as Church as a family and how Small Christian Communities, Otem Okristo in local Language, can operate at a cooperative level.
He noted that the vision of the training is to see that families are united to form Christian communities that would be functional as cooperatives so that they work and achieve their common goals together.
Meanwhile, Mr. Leonard Okello the Executive Director of Uhuru Institute that conducted the training said their aim is to equip the participants with the concept and principles of cooperative enterprises so that they can mobilize the community to increase household income and better their livelihood.
Okello said, through co-operatives, people have the opportunity for training, financing, better markets, education, health and harmony in the society.
After officially opening the training, Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok proceeded to St Paul Catholic Parish Aboke for his second pastoral visit from where he met members of the Parish Council and Heads of institutions within the parish.
