SOUTH SUDAN: Catholic Bishop Launches Coffee Plantation in Yambio

The Catholic Bishop of Tombura-Yambio Rt. Rev. Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala on Sunday launched coffee plantation to conserve the environment, work together and mitigate poverty among people.

According to Anisa Radio, the event took place during silver jubilee celebration of Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala during which he called upon Christians to honour, respect and obey God who created trees before human beings.

The bishop observed that some people failed to succeed in life because of laziness and claim it is the will of God but it is not.

The Catholic prelate further appealed to the government, NGOs and South Sudanese to embark on planting different fruit trees that can generate incomes for them.

Gbudue Information Minister, Husain Enoka Ibrahim appreciated the Catholic Church for the initiative that can bring development to the State.

He says with the revitalized agreement, the State is committed to peace and is currently working hard to reopen roads to villages for free movement of citizens to their farms.

The Catholic Diocese on Sunday gave coffee seedlings to government officials, UN representatives, NGOs, CBOs, offices and individuals to plant trees in their various places in Yambio.

All 27 parishes of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura–Yambio are tasked to plant 1,000 coffee trees; Centers 500 trees; and chapels 250 trees this year.
