The Catholic Bishops of South Sudan have complained of lack of concern from the top national government and the opposition leaders who failed to respond to their call for an end to war in the country.
Information received from South Sudan said Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe of Yei Diocese said that Bishops have issued many messages demanding for an end to conflict but their appeals since January have been ignored and instead the young nation has continued witnessing loss of lives and displacement of people in Bor, Malakal and Bentiu.
Bishop Lodu said the Catholic Bishops are very disappointed because leaders from both the government and the opposition have chosen to ignore the desperate call from the church leaders to end war and save humanity.
He urged the citizens to respect their Governors and Ministers despite of the fact that they did not deliver their services well.
Meanwhile in Wau Diocese, Justice and Peace Department conducted a four-day workshop on peace building and conflict resolution to empower women on how to contribute in building peace in their communities.
The training targeted 30 women from different local women groups in Wau. Women were told that they have a great role in peace building because of their role in the community as peace makers in the country.
