Christians have been called upon to shun evil deeds, pray and repent in order to seek God's indulgence during this Lenten period.

Presiding over the Ash Wednesday Eucharistic celebration at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral, Eldoret, Bishop of Kitale and the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Eldoret Rt. Rev. Maurice Anthony Crowley urged Christians to strive for purity of heart through receiving the Sacrament of Penance, living a reflective life and emulating Jesus Christ during this Lenten period.

“Some people confess that they are Christians but they are stealing, killing others and spreading lies,” he said.

Each year, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a season of penance, fasting and prayer during which the Church invites all Christians to ensure that they do not engage in evil acts.
